I think that is a fair question Ed and I would say yes and no. Yes in the sense that I find myself being lazy and not having as many IRL times with my friends.. For instance, sometimes I would tell myself well I just talked to them on twitter etc. On the other side of that I think social media can interfere with IRL encounters when I am with people and leads me at times to be less present.

I think there is a happy medium somewhere in there and I am trying to figure that part out. Thanks for the comment.

I was driving home last night, going east on 168, and was humbled by the beauty of the view before me. The sun was at a very low angle, and was shining on the face of a mountain covered in snow. It was an incredibly beautiful sight, and I did take a moment to just drink it in.

Very nicely done. I kind of had the impression City of Fresno and local politics in general -- had no qualms or issues passing ordinances based on 'fear' or the 'what could happen..'

Can't have dancing - it could lead to fights/sexual assaults -- seriously, come on... since when does 'fear' or 'it could happen..' trump the right to own a business, own a legal/lawful business, and offer services the public obviously wants? Those rights should come first -- and if they PROVE TO BE A PROBLEM - then work on shutting them down appropriately.

It's crap they closed the marijuana clinics. The people of CA spoke and said they wanted it. Now, you have them being closed and people going to jail over it... it's crazy.

And Prop 8? I mean, the people of CA spoke on that too but just because the majority thinks it's OK to discriminate doesn't make it OK. I am as straight as they come but as conservative as I may be -- it's blatantly discriminative. You're telling a class of people they can't have something -- why? That just seems absurd to me. I'm glad the court decided the way they did.

I can't really blame the appeals court for their view, either.

Good read but I think the problem is we have absolutely no leverage here at all. All the decisions will be made without Fresno St 's involvement and we will get stuck with what ever is left. Best case scenario? We get added to the Mountain West (which may end up getting raided by other conferences too).
I am not worried about The Save Mart Center as it is probably not making much money off Men's Basketball right now and would make more off of concerts. I would be more worried about the football stadium being used anymore.
Fresno St . football is just barely making it now financially and San Jose St is close to folding football altogether.. If Fresno St is dropped into a lesser conference it will be a Cal Poly type team and no more of a power house. What makes me mad is the whole situation is caused by the greed of already rich and powerful colleges hoping to get more rich and powerful. If Fresno St is left behind I will probably stop watching college sports altogether and I love watching college sports. -Andy Hansen-Smith
